Woman attacked in Hastings alley

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on a woman who was attacked in a Hastings alleyway.

The victim was walking through the alleyway between Robertson Street and Claremont when a fight between a group of people broke out at 1am.

She suffered a black eye, bruised ribs and bruising to her arms and chest and went to hospital for treatment.

A 45-year-old man from Battle was arrested on suspicion of assault and resisting arrest and a 45-year-old Battle woman was arrested on suspicion of assault.

They were both questioned and bailed until May 27.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police by emailing [email protected] or ring 101 quoting serial 76 of 30/04.
