St Leonards man charged with child sexual offences after police raid

A shop worker was arrested and charged with distributing indecent images of children after police executed a warrant.

Police said 44-year-old Douglas Warren, of King’s Road, St Leonards, was charged with several counts on Thursday, May 26.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said officers carried out a warrant under section 8 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act in King’s Road, St Leonards.

Warren was arrested and charged with four counts of distributing indecent images of children, three counts of making indecent images of children, encouraging the distribution of indecent images of children and attempting to incite a girl under 16 to engage in sexual activity.

The police spokesman added Warren appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court the next day where he entered no plea to each of the offences.

Warren was remanded into custody and will appear at Lewes Crown Court on June 23.

The police spokesman said: “At present the images appear to be internet sourced. All known children have been safeguarded.”
