Primark could save BHS staff

May I use the Observer to take what is possibly the last opportunity to thank the staff of the BHS Priory Meadow store?

Over many years their unfailing courtesy and helpfulness has made shopping there a pleasant experience. Being a shop assistant can be a tiring and tiresome job, particularly when facing an uncertain future. But whatever customers and central office are throwing at them, the Hastings BHS staff only show smiling, friendly faces to the public. Therefore, from at least this grateful customer: thank you to you all and may the future be better for you than the present.

Could not a resolution to the closing of our BHS be resolved by the Priory Meadow management and Hastings Council tempting Primark to take over the store?

Primark would certainly bring the many shoppers who now go to Eastbourne to Hastings and could also provide jobs for the present BHS staff. Their experience of a similar retail offering should make them front-runners for careers at Primark.

So come on Hastings Council, turn your sympathy for the BHS staff into action and benefit them and the entire town as well.
