St Leonards driver, 69, to stand trial over death

A man charged with causing death by dangerous driving will stand trial next month.

Richard Stemler, 69, a sales representative of Wishing Tree Road, St Leonards, is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on June 20.

Pedestrian Harley Simpson, 11, of Bulverhythe Road, St Leonards, died in hospital on November 4 last year after being involved in a collision with a silver Renault Espace on October 22.

Harley attended Pebsham Primary Academy before going to The St Leonards Academy.

He also played for Hastings & Bexhill RFC’s under-12 squad.
