It looks cheap and tawdry

The structure in the middle of the pier with its second-hand timber cladding brings to mind the protection used on London Buses in the first world war to move troops from the front.
Perhaps we now live in Walmington-on-Sea and should expect to see Captain Mainwaring and his troops sheltering inside to repel all boarders.

Hide AdIt looks cheap (which I am sure it was not), tawdry and totally out of keeping with the restored part of the pier nearer the seafront.
This and the black sheds only display the mixed thinking of the pier designers.
Piers should be colourful and inviting not drab.
