It appeared that the driver, a man aged 42, and who was treated by paramedics, may have lost control after experiencing some kind of medical episode, a police spokesman said.

A 17-year-old girl who was the only passenger aboard the bus was unhurt.

Police closed the road between its junctions with Telford Road and Quebec Road while the incident was dealt with and the bus recovered.
