St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne does vital work all year round. Now, from October 24-30 they are asking you to support them during Wilf Week to raise vital funds and awareness of what they do.

St Wilfrid’s Hospice offers care and support to adults with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers.

They offer support in your own home, within the hospice or in a care home, and while it is partly funded by the NHS, 70 per cent of its work is funded by donations from the local community.

Wilf Week, October 24-30

If you live in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas, you can show your support for St Wilfrid’s Hospice during their special fundraising week. Everyone in the community can get involved, whether they or a loved one has been helped by the hospice or not.

Individuals, families, schools and businesses in the area are being asked to do their bit to help this vital service be there when they are needed.

What’s on

Every day the hospice’s nurses walk at least 7,000 steps … can you join them and take the Walk with Wilfie sponsored steps challenge?

Organise your own fundraising event – it can be a bake sale, fancy dress, raffle, race night or anything you choose, and the team at St Wilfrid’s can organise balloons, posters and social media support to make your event a big success.

Talking of cakes, you can download bunting and request cake toppers from the St Wilfrid’s website, as well as a very special tombola prize. Find more information here.

Where’s Wilfie? There are 18 miniature Wilfie bears hiding out in Eastbourne during Wilf Week, and you can follow the clues on the map to work out the anagrams and find him. Then, those very special Wilfies will be auctioned off. The winning bidder won’t just take home their own Wilfie, but an additional prize donated by the business where he was found.

Looking for a special commemorative gift, or even a Christmas stocking filler? You can buy a limited edition Wilfie bear for just £15.

And while raising money is vital, raising awareness is too. Click here to find lots of info to share on your own social media channels, to help spread the work of Eastbourne’s hospice.

What can Wilfie do for you?

Wilfie Bear has a busy diary, but he tries his best to get to as many fundraising events as possible. If you would like him to be at a special event at your school, business or group’s event, just get in touch with the hospice’s Fundraising Team and they’ll check his diary!
