Having seen his Hastings International Composers Festival go from strength to strength, award-wining British-Argentine musican Polo Piatti is looking forward to an exciting few months.
He is soon launching his new album in Hastings having recorded it with the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
Polo commented: “My new album (to be released in March) is called ‘Sentimental Journey’ and is a suite for piano and orchestra that I composed for a Japanese comission and which I premiered over there (in Osaka in 2012) with the Otemon Gakuin Orchetra to great success.
“It is an extremely emotional work and a journey through different countries, including England, Japan and Argentina, through time.
“I am very happy with the resulting recording as the City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the best recording orchestras in the world, especially for film music and my music is very atmospheric - similar to film music, which is atmospheric too.
After receiving the commission I composed the work all over Sussex, mostly in Hastings, Battle and Rye.”
Polo is presently writing his first opera with an original libretto by British writer Roy Apps, his ‘Lullaby For A Clown’ is to be performed again at St John The Evangelist on January 30 with the popular Hastings Sinfonia, and he also hopes to return to Germany and Japan for a tour.
