Now living in Bristol, Em has been teaching singing and performing for almost a decade. Having trained at East Sussex School of Performing Arts (ESSPA) in the centre of Bexhill, and attended Bexhill High School (now Bexhill Academy) and Bexhill College, Emma went on to study music in Bath and has continued to live in the south-west.

Em said: “I was so blessed growing up in Bexhill, with the gorgeous sea front, and safe environment to go out and express myself with my music. Through ESSPA with my musical theatre passion and through the music charity Rhythmix playing and singing in the band Temba Dawn, I had so many opportunities to sing and perform from a young age. Now I teach and sing for a living and have had the time to finally take the plunge with my original music.

“Over the past few months, many musicians and self-employed people, as well as the rest of the population, have experienced challenges during lockdown and the coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s been a strange time for self-employed musicians and music teachers, but one thing this experience has given us all, is some spare time to focus on projects we wouldn’t usually have time to do. So, with the help of my music and production friends, I’ve finally been able to record, produce and release my own songs. I am both nervous and excited to release my first single, In Time.

“I’d describe my music as honest, joyful and with a 90s Natalie Imbruglia-esque sound. Under the nickname Em, my music will be released on all popular streaming sites such as Spotify, and available to purchase and download on Apple Music, iTunes and Amazon music, as well as others.”

You can follow Emma’s music through social media, Facebook.com/emsingersongwriter or instagram.com/em_singer_uk or you can join her mailing list and check out more about her on Em’s website www.emsingersongwriter.com

Emma said she would like to thank the people who have contributed to her music in Bexhill, and would love to perform again at the De La Warr: “Someday soon perhaps?”
