It will be available to watch on Facebook or on website http://www.hastingsinternationalpiano.org/an-evening-in-with/

Spokeswoman Dominika Hicks explains: “In these times when the livelihood of our musicians is at risk, with engagements being cancelled and studies on hold, this series aims to provide an income to the young competition prize-winners as well as offering Hastings Piano supporters and the wider public something to look forward to at the end of the week.

“The concerts are free to view, but viewers are able to make a voluntary donation to Hastings International Piano Engagement Fund or choose to join as a Friend whilst watching. These donations help to continue the organisation’s work supporting young pianists as well as engagement projects offered to the young people of Hastings and the surrounding area. This includes free tickets to events as well as workshops, school visits and inspirational talks from visiting artists.

“Internationally acclaimed Neapolitan pianist Eugenio Catone is renowned for his highly-defined artistic personality and the expressive power of his interpretations.”

Gifted with 'a surprising ability to identify integrally with the composer's soul' (Il Tempo) and with 'an exuberant technique which supports his musical intelligence, as polished as an ancient Toledo sword' (Corriere del Mezzogiorno), he is the very essence of the inquisitive, eclectic musician adept in a variety of musical forms: chamber music, composition, conducting an orchestra and teaching.

After receiving unanimous approval at the Pozzoli Piano Competition in Seregno (Premio Biella) and the Speranza Piano Competition in Taranto (Premio Albano), he obtained his first important international recognition when he won first prize at the 8th Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition. A few years later, he was awarded the Grand Prix at the Rosario Marciano Piano Competition in Vienna. Since then he has performed at many prestigious Festivals in Italy and in Europe (Ravello Festival, Wiener Klavierfest, Farfield Halls) and with many orchestras including the Bonner Orchesterverein, the Finchley Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra Giovanile Universitaria, presenting programmes that feature repertoires of the early Romantic period and the 20th Century.

His performances have been broadcasted by radio stations (Radio Vaticana, Radio Slovenija 3) and his CD “Temi & Variazioni” (Estonia Piano Netherlands, 2007) was selected by Piero Rattalino for the “Nuove Carriere 2010” award promoted by CIDIM in Rome. Eugenio's latest album was published in 2018 under the record label Diapason Records. Eugenio Catone is currently engaged in a challenging project: recording the complete piano works of Dmítri Shostakóvich, which he presents in monothematic recitals and concerto lessons.
