My Silver Cloud is sired by Cloudlings, just like the horse that Sussex-based jockey Leighton Aspell guided to victory in the big one at Aintree on Saturday.

Twenty-four hours before the National, 6/4 favourite My Silver Cloud, ridden by Marc Goldstein and trained by Paddy Butler, won the bet365.com Handicap Chase.

My Silver Cloud’s win was the second leg of a quickfire double for Goldstein, who had opened the meeting with a win on 14/1 Money Talks in the bet365 Novices’ Hurdle - bringing success for Hampshire trainer Michael Madgwick.

My Silver Cloud was tipped on the Observer website on the morning of racing.

Elsewhere, the card ended with a thriller as the bet365 Standard Open National Hunt flat race was taken by a neck by 20/1 starter Amber Spyblass, with Jack Quinlan on board for trainer Giles Bravery.

Other winners as families enjoyed a sunny afternoon and Easter-related fun for kids were Kublai, Brody Bleu, Epsom Flyer and Town Mouse.

Meanwhile, Fontwell bids farewell to a course favourite tomorrow (Friday April 17).

Our Fontwell tips for Friday: 1.10 Buckhorn Timothy, 1.40 Leo Luna, 2.10 Verano, 2.40 Valco De Touzaine, 3.15 Xaarcet, 3.45 The Informant, 4.20 Tricky.

Veteran Morestead, owned by Les Gilbert and trained by Brendan Powell, will run his last race at a track that’s become something of a spiritual home to him in recent years.

His final race before he retires should be a special one and has been aptly named the Morestead Retirement Handicap Chase. He’ll have six rivals and is likely to be one of the outsiders in the betting.

Fontwell are planning a special presentation to his owner celebrating this superb horse’s career.

Out of 113 races during Morestead’s career, the ten-year-old Chestnut gelding has had 49 runs at Fontwell. From a total of eight wins, three have been on the Sussex track.

In 2008 he was ridden home at Fontwell by 19-times champion jockey AP McCoy.

Since then, he has been ridden by Aspell.
