Toothless Saints lack any bite

TOOTHLESS St Leonards succumbed to their second defeat in the space of four days with a 2-1 reverse at home to Eastbourne Town on Wednesday night.

The Saints defence looked almost rock solid all night but young striker Yemi Odubade confidently converted two of three opportunities that came his way to leave the hosts a touch unfortunate to come away empty-handed.

Manager Gary Bowyer said: "It was a better performance but it's still way off. There's no instinctiveness there. They are a very young side and I've got to get that aggression out of them."

Odubade raced through to slot the opener in the 19th minute as Saints appealed in vain for offside but Nicky Stiles deservedly levelled in first half added time. Odubade burst through again though to seal it 15 minutes from time.

Four days earlier Saints crashed 4-1 at home to Arundel in the FA Cup extra preliminary round.
