The Pett-based driver claimed the third race win of his rookie year in cars during a dramatic 20th round of the season at the Snetterton 300 Circuit on Sunday.

After securing the ‘reverse grid’ pole position for the second of the weekend’s races at the Norfolk track by finishing eighth in round 19 on Saturday, Barlow made the most of the top spot on the grid to lead away at the start.

Soaking up intense pressure, the teenager didn’t have any time to relax but the Sean Walkinshaw Racing driver didn’t put a wheel wrong either. On lap eight, though, an attack from Seb Morris at Montreal Hairpin relegated Barlow to second place.

Determined to wrest the position back, Barlow remained in Morris’s wheeltracks to the chequered flag on lap 10 where just 0.472 seconds was the difference. Post-race, however, Morris was excluded due to a technical infringement relating to the rear wing on his car, giving Barlow the win.

For round 19, Barlow qualified fifth fastest – just 0.4 seconds shy of the front row – and maintained position off the start. Although elbowed down to ninth in the thick of some intense action, post-race he was elevated to eighth following an exclusion for Matt Mason. Barlow concluded the weekend with 12th in round 21.

Barlow is in a strong position in the championship, although any of the top six can still win it going into the last event at Donington Park Grand Prix Circuit on September 28-29. Before then, television highlights of last weekend’s action from Snetterton will be screened on ITV4 and ITV4 HD this coming Sunday at 6pm.
