The unseasonably warm weather was perfect for spectators, but added a challenge for the athletes who tackled the two-lap course which took in the town centre, promenade and Galley Hill.

Lewes AC’s David Bradford led throughout the race and won in a time of 34:24, exactly half-a-minute faster than second place finisher Timmy Gedin, of Arena 80 AC. Third spot was taken by Tyler O’Callaghan, who runs for Striders of Croydon, in 36:39.

First female was Susan Aldridge, of Crawley AC, who ran strongly throughout to claim her first career victory in a time of 42:57. Arena 80 AC’s Emily Proto finished second in 43:17, more a minute in front of third-placed Juliette Sukoco, of Hailsham Harriers.

Bexhill Runners were well represented with 12 club members completing the race and many more helping out as marshals. The first male Bexhill Runner was Dan Gilkes in 42:25 and first female was Steph Abbott in 46:45.

Before the main event, more than 60 children took part in 500m and 1K races. Seven-year-old Finlay Jack won the shorter event in 2:01 and Matt Henning, of Hastings AC, triumphed in the longer run in 3:28.

The next race on the TL Sports Events calendar is the Poppy Half Marathon on Remembrance Sunday (November 13). Further information and online entry are available at
