Sean's Olympic exploits honoured

THE magnificent Olympic Games performance of Sean Baldock has been acknowledged by a special presentation on behalf of Hastings Borough Council.

The Mayor's department of HBC presented the former Hillcrest Language College pupil with a pewter tankard at a special ceremony in the Town Hall on Thursday, last week.

Baldock formed a quarter of the Great Britain squad which finished fifth in the final of the 4x400 metre relay final in Athens during August.

The 27-year-old's powerful second leg run of 45.3 seconds, which hauled the domestic team up from fourth to second, even drew praise from American track icon Michael Johnson analysing the action for BBC television.

Baldock will be returning to his roots next season to run for Southern League Division Two Hastings AC after quitting national champions Belgrave Harriers - a drop of five divisions.
