Saxons will be aiming to add the Sussex Plate to the South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One title as they take on Penguin in the final at East Grinstead HC. Push-back is 1.30pm.

“It’s not often you win the league never mind get the chance to do a double as well,” said captain Paddy Cornish. “It’s an opportunity and it’s quite a big stage. There will be a lot of people there from a lot of different clubs and everyone’s looking forward to it.”

Saxons finished nine places and 34 points above their opponents in the league, beating them twice along the way. The Hastings club has also won all of its last 10 matches.

“The same thing happened last year and they beat us on a golden goal,” warned Cornish. “You’ve got to turn up on the day. Hopefully we can go there with the right attidude and put a good performance in. The butterflies are building up already.”
