Saints celebrate rare win

SHORN of 10 players through injury, suspension or work commitments, St Leonards pulled off a remarkable 3-1 win at home to Dartford on Saturday - their first in the league since October 12.

Even manager Gary Bowyer couldn't believe it. He said: "I thought we were going to lose. When we scored the first goal it was like we won the cup final. I'm sure teams come here thinking they are going to win without getting a game. The last three games we can say we have actually competed and looked like we were going to do something."

Saints fell adrift to a sublime Tommy Martin curler after 32 minutes but Jimmy Elford levelled matters five minutes into the second period with a 25-yard strike into the roof of the net.

Elford's replacement, under 18s player Stuart Leppard stunned the Darts 13 minutes from time with the goal of a lifetime from 35 yards and Michael Morgan settled it with a low drive in injury time.
