Record field for Bexhill 10K

With more than 200 athletes already signed up and many more expected on the day itself, the exciting new course, which takes in the town centre, promenade and short climb up Galley Hill has clearly appealed to runners of all abilities.

The race village and start/finish area will be in Devonshire Road, and the runners will also come back through this area at the halfway point, so there will be a big race atmosphere for athletes and spectators. The main 10K race will start at 10.30am and there will be children’s races (500m/1K/2K) from 10am.

Many top Sussex athletes are expected to toe the starting line, including the winner of this year’s Royal 5K, Joshua Varney, of Hastings AC, and last year’s Sussex Grand Prix series winner, Lewes AC’s David Bradford.

Further down the field, many runners will be hoping to achieve personal best times on a predominantly fast, flat course and a large number of competitors have chosen the Big 10K to be their first race over this distance.

Devonshire Road (south of Parkhurst Road) will be closed from 7am-1.30pm. The section of Marina between Eversley Road and Albert Road will be closed from 9.30am-12.30pm, as will Channel View West and Galley Hill (access to Sutton Place will not be affected).
