HASTINGS Priory’s hopes of retaining the Sussex Premier League title suffered a huge setback with defeat away to Brighton & Hove.

The defending champions were dismissed for just 83 as Matt Wood took 4-45 and Sussex man Chris Liddle 3-5.

In reply, Brighton tumbled to 5-3 but 42 not out from Tim Jarvis helped them reach 84-4. Young bowler Adam Barton took 3-16 for Priory.

Priory, who picked up only a couple of points from the defeat, take on the Sussex Development XI at Horntye Park Sports Complex today (Sunday) desperate for a win to keep them in touch with the leaders.

Sussex Premier League standings (played-points): Preston Nomads 14-285, Horsham 14-272, Roffey 15-248, Hastings Priory 14-236, East Grinstead 15-235, Chichester Priory Park 15-231, Brighton & Hove 15-225, Worthing 15-204, Bexhill 15-194, Eastbourne 14-173.
