Organisers acted fast after local authority bosses said there would be no big public events in the town - which has been severely hit by Covid-19 infection rates - in the near future.

The 2021 race, the first for two yerars, had been planned for March. The normally annual event is organised by the Lions Club of Hastings.

A statement said: "We are very sad to announce the above, but the moment HBC announced NO events in Hastings until April, it was inevetable.

"The next Hastings Half Marathon will be on Sunday 20 March 2022. All those entered for the event will have their entry carried over to the 2022 event.

"The biggest losers of course are charities and needy causes, but the Hastings Lions Club will still try to help those in need as best they can."
