Odd though it may sound, the Hastings Regatta will take place on Bexhill shores tomorrow (Saturday). Due to a lack of support, Hastings cannot hold a regatta this year so Bexhill stepped in to help out.

The event should start at roughly 10am with Bexhill’s own regatta getting underway at around 11am on Sunday.

The club would love to see as many Bexhillians as possible on the promenade by the De La Warr Pavilion cheering on the red, white and greens.

Three of Bexhill’s young female rowers have already been on the water after joining other coastal club members from Worthing and Shoreham to represent Sussex at the Junior Inter-Regional Regatta in Nottingham.

All made it into the finals with Bexhill’s Abbey Little coming second in the J14 quad four, while Laura Quinn and Georgina Pepper, rowing in an eight boat for the first time, came seventh out of 12.

Club captain Nick McCorry said that despite the many changes in crews this year, he is looking forward to yet another successful season.
