Two former Davis Cup tennis stars are coming to St Leonards later this month.
Danny Sapsford and Luke Milligan will visit The Green LTC on Sunday May 25 to run coaching classes and take part in an exhibition match.
Sapsford made the third round of Wimbledon in 1999 before losing to Pete Sampras and reached the second stage of the US Open eight years earlier.
Milligan also got to the third round of Wimbledon in 1996, losing to Tim Henman. He has since coached several top British players, including Laura Robson, Arvind Parmar and Anne Keothavong. Both played for Great Britain in the Davis Cup.
Coaching session times: 1-1.45pm 6-10 years; 1.45-2.30pm 11-15 years; 2.30-3.30pm adults; 3.30-4.30pm - adults (advanced players); 4.30-4.45pm fastest serve competition with speed machine.
The cost of the children’s groups is £5 and the adults is £10, but the event isn’t ‘turn up and play’. Numbers are limited and participants must be registered by Monday. Contact Sean Yates on 07739 689158.
The coaching will be followed by an exhibition match involving Sapsford, Milligan, Yates and Doug Keen, who played on the professional circuit and competed against Sapsford.
Tennis enthusiasts are invited along to the Tower Road West club on the day to watch and use the facilities.
