Bexhill Rowing Club captain Nick McCorry believes the current squad is ‘the best group we’ve ever had’.
The club continued its dominance of the Coast Amateur Rowing Association scene with a remarkable 11 wins at the Deal Regatta last weekend.
Bexhill are a massive 219 points clear at the top of the league standings and McCorry believes reaching the coveted 1,000 landmark by the season’s end is possible.
“We’re currently on 695, so it’s realistic if no more regattas are cancelled,” McCorry said. “It’s been talked about for years, but this season it is achievable.
“Collectively, this is the best our squad has been I think. It’s great to see the newer and younger rowers coming in and holding their own too - we have an excellent squad.”
Bexhill, who are also well clear in the grand aggregate standings, hold the points record following their successes last season, but could surpass that with three regattas to go, including their own event on Sunday August 11.
