The Hastings Half Marathon has scooped another accolade.

In the latest edition of the world’s best selling running magazine Runners World, the Hastings Half Marathon was chosen as The Greatest Racing Day Out, as voted by readers.

The Hastings Lions Club-organised event has been voted the UK’s best half marathon in many previous years and in a changed system of voting for various aspects, the 13.1-mile race came out number one in a different category.

In the article, the citation said: “A staple of the British racing calendar, Hastings is packed with excited spring marathon runners and the varied course is lined by cheering crowds, just the thing to push you up the early uphill part of the course.

“There is even a special train from London, free park and ride for motorists, and a free creche to go with the quality free programme and famous Hastings Brass awards to all finishers.”

The 2012 Hastings Half Marathon will take place on Sunday March 25 and another surge of entries were received last weekend. To sign up, visit
