Going into the last end, they were leading 19-17 but with Logan’s last bowl to come, found themselves three shots down on the head. Logan played a superb bowl to trail the jack and win the championship.

The triples winners were Dyer, Stone and Shaun Godfrey (White Rock BC), who had a very comfortable 22-4 win after 14 ends over Jack Crawford (Carreras BC), John Barnes (Tilbury BC) and Ken Barber (Aylesbury BC).

The consolation pairs was won by the Bexhill BC partnership of Bill Gale and Keith Richardson, who beat Arnie Lewis (Camberley BC) and James Freemantle (Cranleigh BC) 19-18 after an extra end.

At the conclusion of the day’s finals, David Fletcher of the Birchwood Group, who were the main sponsors of this year’s tournament, presented the trophies to the winners.

The tournament was very well organised again by the tournament committee which was once again ably led by Bill Whittington, the tournament organiser. This was very much appreciated by most of the 250 competitors who took part.
