JOANNA TAKES ON THE WORLD

GUTSY Joanna Hinde has been selected to represent Great Britain at the World University Triathlon Championships.

The former Claverham School and Bexhill College pupil from Cripps Corner took part in the National Championships at Teeside which were also trials for the Commonwealth Games.

The cold, wet and windy conditions saw half the field withdraw from the event with hypothermia after the swim and cycle.

Despite being injured in a nasty cycling accident three weeks earlier, Hinde stuck at it and finished 10th.

The result earned the Bath University student a place in the national squad for the games in Japan on August 10 and 11.
