The Bexhill potter produced a magnificent display featuring three century breaks to thrash Wang Yuchen 5-1 in the wildcard round on Monday, but failed to reproduce that form against his namesake today.

Jimmy didn’t register a point in the first frame as his opponent racked up a break of 72 to clich it 76-0. Neil compiled a break of 58 in the next and although Jimmy had a chance to get back into it, the Australian took it 73-27.

World number 54 Jimmy was scoreless again in the third, losing it 70-0, and two more breaks of 70 meant former world champion Neil took the last two frames 77-2 and 70-24 respectively. One consolation for Jimmy is that he still holds the tournament’s highest break with a 142 against Yuchen.

As previously reported, St Leonards cueman Mark Davis is safely through to the round two following his 5-3 win over Dechawat Poomjaeng this morning. His next opponent will be world number 42 Jack Lisowski and that match will take place tomorrow.
