Individual errors undermine Sidley

THE old failing of individual errors undermining a creditable overall performance reared its ugly head again as Sidley United went down 2-0 at Eastbourne Town on Wednesday night.

United were competing on a similar footing to their hosts, who went second in Sussex Division One on the back of this result, until Owen Ball failed to deal with a hopeful Carl Harris long ball presenting the prolific Yemi Odubade with an early Christmas present that he gleefully accepted 10 minutes into the second half.

Odubade nabbed the second in stoppage time but there were plenty of positives to emerge from the visitors' performance.

Joint manager Andy Laskey said: "It (the first goal) definitely cost us but I was pleased with the way the players acquitted themselves. They battled well and I thought first half we were slightly on top really. I think Eastbourne are a good side though and it wouldn't surprise me if they went away and won the league."

United entertain Hassocks on Saturday December 20 with a similar squad.
