This grade-six mixed singles tournament was the latest in a series of mini-tennis tournaments at the club over the winter season.

The first stage was based on a round-robin format of two groups of six players and each match comprised a match tie-break, first to ten points. The best two qualifiers from each group progressed into an elimination semi-final stage. All remaining players received additional matches.

Robin Davey from Middleton Sports Club collected the bronze medal by beating Oscar De Lacy (Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club) 10-9 in the third-fourth place play-off match.

Silver went to Jamie Holligon (CRAFC), who lost out in a thrilling final to another Chichester member Joseph Robinson – 10-8 the score.

Both finalists receive their coaching from the Chichester Tennis Academy based at the club.

Tournament organiser and referee Peter Cook said: “Once again we have been treated to some fantastic tennis matches from these young players. They have also displayed tremendous respect for their opponents and great sportsmanship throughout the event.”
