H&B raring to go again

Hastings & Bexhill will have fully recovered from the rigours of last weekend when they return to action tomorrow (Saturday).

That’s the view of the rugby club’s head coach Kevin Smith, who believes his players will be 100 per cent for the long trip to Whitstable in Kent One following last weekend’s demanding double header.

Smith, pictured, said: “I expect them to be 100 per cent. The last league game we lost so we’ve got to put that behind us, learn from our mistakes and get into winning ways again.”

H&B suffered only their second defeat in nine league games when they succumbed 19-7 away to leaders Gillingham Anchorians on Saturday, but picked themselves up to beat neighbours Rye 18-7 in a Sussex Shield semi-final on Sunday.

The players were due to do some very light training and have a big massage session on Tuesday night before getting “back to work” last night ahead of the clash against a 10th-placed Whitstable side they beat 27-13 in October’s reverse fixture.

Elsewhere tomorrow, Rye RFC will continue their quest for a top half finish in Sussex One by making the long trip to a Holbrook side which sits just above them in the table.
