H&B in danger of losing touch with leaders

H&B have fallen to sixth in Kent One after back-to-back defeats. They trail leaders Sheppey by 13 points and are eight points outside the top three.

“If we lose many more, we’re in danger of losing touch with the top of the league,” said Brooks, whose team has won three and lost three of its first six league matches.

“Although I still stand by the fact it’s a no pressure league, we’re building a team and getting the youngsters blooded, I would still like to see us be successful and I’m still targeting a top four finish.

“The teams we’ve lost to have all been top end teams. They’re all eminently beatable when we’re on form and with a full selection. I’m still confident we will come away with a successful season and achieve our aims.”

H&B will travel to fifth-placed Southwark Lancers tomorrow (Saturday), after which they will have played all of the other teams in the top seven and only one of the bottom five.

“They’ve been a jinx side for us in the past,” continued Brooks, who hopes to welcome back Ben Campbell and Bruce Steadman. “But I stand by the fact that we generally travel well.”
