Hastings on their travels in FA Cup

Although a trip to the Northern Premier Division One side gives Hastings a decent chance of progressing, travel-wise it could not have been much worse as Spalding lie midway between Peterborough and Boston in the Lincolnshire heartland.

Hastings' adventure in this season's national competition continued with a superb 3-1 win at Conference South Carshalton Athletic.

Steve Lovell's side got off to the best possible start with a goal after only two minutes when Jon Wallis converted after Steve Hafner had seen his initial effort parried by the keeper.

The home side equalised seven minutes before half time through Dale Marvell but Hastings went on to dominate the second half. Ryan Peters restored the advantage eight minutes after the restart and Carl Rook made sure of victory just past the hour mark.

This win was all down to battling team effort in which everyone did their job against supposedly superior opposition. Sean Ray was once again impressive at the heart of the defence, Rook starred in attack and David Henham did well in the holding role in midfield.

Hastings visit Spalding on Saturday October 16, kick-off 3pm.
