Hastings Half Marathon goes online only

This week marked the launch of the entry details for the 2016 Hastings Half Marathon and for the first time in the event’s history, there will not be a promotional entry form distributed.

The paper entry form will be replaced by a race leaflet, which gives details of how to enter online. Ninty-nine percent of entries are now made online, meaning only very few paper entries are received.

If anyone cannot enter online, and cannot find someone who will enter for them, it is possible to download a form and post it. Visit www.hastings-half.co.uk and follow the instructions.

The leaflet will be available at most sports shops and centres, Hastings Borough Council’s tourism information centre and Scollays on The Ridge.

The 32nd running of the annual Hastings Lions Club-organised event will take place on Sunday March 20 (10.30am start) and extra interest has been generated by the very successful Bexhill-Hastings Link Road 10K last month.

As the event will be celebrating the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings, organisers are asking for runners to dress in 1066 costume to celebrate the modern battle of Hastings.

As always, the Hastings Half Marathon is open to all abilities aged 17 upwards and entrants can raise monies for their own special needy cause or charity.

The Saga-sponsored Mini Run - a 2.5k race along the seafront for children aged 11-16 - will again take place during the main race.

Anyone wishing to be involved with the event, either by sponsoring or helping, can email [email protected] for more details.
