Hastings & Bexhill Rugby Club will be without its influential captain for a tough-looking final fixture of 2015.
Jimmy Adams will miss the trip to HSBC in Kent One tomorrow (Saturday), plus the first game of the new year, because of what H&B head coach Chris Brooks called ‘paternity duty’.
They’re a big set of boots to fill, but we want to do him proud in his absenceJimmy Adams
Brooks said: “He’s a very, very influential player and a very good leader. They’re a big set of boots to fill, but we want to do him proud in his absence and that’s going to be the crux of training this week.
“We’ve got a lot of decent strength in depth now and in the last few games we’ve sacrificed very little quality for not having (some) players around.”
Tomorrow’s clash will bring together two of the division’s form teams. HSBC have risen to fifth on the back of five straight wins, while H&B have won four in a row to go third and within six points of second-placed Beccehamian.
Their latest victory was a 38-11 success at home to King’s College Hospital last weekend.
Brooks said: “It was a good win and quite a satisfying one as well. We let them back into the game during the third quarter, but in the last 15 minutes the guys ran away with it and there were some very good tries. The boys’ handling out wide was very, very good.”
