Grace clocks PB at grand prix

Grace Baker made sure her track season ended on a high at the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham.

The Diamond League event was televised live on the BBC, and the Bexhill College student was rubbing shoulders with Olympic medal winners such as Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford.

Pett-based Baker was competing up an age group in the UK Under-20 3,000m Championships and came home fourth in a personal best time of 9:44.50.

This sets her up well for the forthcoming cross-country season and having gained her first Great Britain vest last year, she will be hoping for selection in the under-20 GB team for the European and World Championships.

These goals are ambitious as 16-year-old Baker still has another three years in the under-20 age group, but there is no denying the local girl’s determination.
