The Staplecross-based professional came tied 20th in the Challenge de Catalunya at Lumine Golf & Beach Club, Spain, at the weekend.

Evans made a good start to the tournament with a three-under-par first round 68 last Thursday afternoon. Three of his four birdies came in successive holes either side of the turn.

Play was then abandoned on day two and the event was reduced from 72 holes to 54. Evans began his second round with back-to-back bogeys, but carded three birdies and just one dropped shot thereafter to go round in a level par 71.

The 27-year-old got off to a flyer in his final round on Sunday with birdies in his first two holes and although he bogeyed two of his next three, a solitary birdie and 12 pars in his last 13 holes meant he signed for a one-under 70 and a four-under total of 209.

Evans, of Rye and Sedlescombe Golf Clubs, has made a solid start to the campaign having achieved a top 40 finish in his opening event in Kenya during March. He returned to the European Challenge Tour this year after finishing fourth on the Alps Tour order of merit last season.
