The Battle Road club defeated Crowborough Beacon in the final of the Exclusive Golf Plate, a Sussex inter-club handicap matchplay team competition.

The victorious eight-man team closed out the four pairs matches 3-1 over the Waterfall Course at Mannings Heath having already come through many rounds home and away to earn their place in the final.

Kim Baker and Gary Fuller halved their match with Crowborough pair Dave Adams and Simon Begg, while David Mitchell and Andy Hulls also claimed a half against Peter Banfield and Bruce Parsons.

That left the match to be decided in the last two games, and Gary Begbie and Kevin Robinson stormed to a 5up win over Adrian Isaac and Kim Stephenson to give Beauport Park a slender advantage.

Beauport Park only needed a half in the final match for overall glory, but Len Crew and Wayne Potter went one better and won 1up versus David Drew and Gary Reeve-Wing.
