Golf ace secures EuroPro Tour spot

Nessling, of Cooden Beach Golf Club with a coaching attachment to Sedlescombe Golf Club, has obtained his card for the HotelPlanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour, which is televised on Sky Sports.

The 25-year-old finished tied 31st in the Qualifying School Final Stage at Frilford Heath Golf Club, Oxfordshire, to earn category six membership of the circuit. The top 30 and ties earned category three membership.

Nessling carded rounds of 73, 68 and 71 for a four-under-par total of 212, and actually made the most birdies of anybody in the field with a remarkable 18 gains during the 54-hole event.

Some 240 players made up the field and the top 80 after two rounds made it through to the final round. Among those to miss the cut were Luke Cornford (Cooden Beach), and the Sedlescombe pair of Steven Gibbs and Michael Farrier-Twist.

Nessling and Farrier-Twist has previously come through the Qualifying School Stage One event at Woldingham Golf Club in Surrey, while Gibbs qualified at The Players Club in Bristol.

The PGA EuroPro Tour season commences on Wednesday May 13 at the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales, home of the 2010 Ryder Cup.

The 15-event season also takes in the likes of Close House, Chart Hills and Prince’s with every tournament carrying a £50,000 prize fund, of which the winner takes home £10,000.
