The Staplecross-based professional finished tied 41st in the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek CC.

Evans completed the 72-hole event in a level par total of 288, which would have been a touch disappointing having been tied ninth on four-under at halfway.

The 28-year-old began with a one-under 71 in round one last Thursday. Six birdies and two bogeys in his first 11 holes took Evans to four-under before dropping three shots in his last three holes.

Evans climbed into the top 10 courtesy of a very good bogey-free 69 in round two which featured a hat-trick of consecutive birdies from the 13th.

He began round three with nine straight pars before shedding three shots in as many holes. Two birdies thereafter added up to a one-over 73.

Evans made two birdies in the first 11 holes of his final round, but two bogeys and a triple bogey in the next six holes meant he closed with a three-over 75.
