The Staplecross-based professional is in the field for the BMW PGA Championship, which will be held at Wentworth Club from tomorrow (Thursday) until Sunday.

It will be Evans’ first appearance in the £3.9 million tournament and some of the sport’s biggest names will also be taking part, including Masters champion Danny Willett, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Darren Clarke and Graeme McDowell.

Evans will begin his opening round at 10.55am tomorrow in the company of French golfer Edouard Espana and Irish player Eamonn Brady. The same trio will form the third-last group in round two on Friday at 3.20pm.

The 29-year-old Evans will be hoping to regain some form after four consecutive missed cuts, the last of which came in the Irish Open at The K Club last weekend. He lies 112th on the season-long Race to Dubai standings.
