The Staplecross-based professional came tied 14th in the Portugal Masters - his second top-15 finish in three tournaments.

Evans carded three rounds in the 60s for an eight-under-par 72-hole total of 276 at Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course, Vilamoura.

The 33-year-old began with a two-under-par 69 featuring five birdies, including four in five holes from the 10th, a double bogey on the 16th and a bogey at the 18th.

Evans followed that with a level-par 71 in round two, recovering from three bogeys and a birdie in four holes from the third with three birdies and a bogey in six holes from the 10th.

He then produced successive three-under-par 68s in the final two rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Evans carded five birdies in round three, including three in a row from the 14th, before making a double bogey on the last.

He began round four with birdies at the second and third before trading three birdies, the last of which was on the 17th, with two bogeys thereafter.

As a result, Evans has moved up 27 places to 178th on the season-long Race to Dubai rankings.
