GOLDS DOWN BUT GRAB A POINT

WITH LITTLEHAMPTON already relegated and Shoreham trudging around aimlessly in mid-table, it was always odds-on that Saturday's game at Middle Road was going to be somewhat of a lifeless encounter.

It proved to be the case, with both sides showing a marked lack of ambition, although it must be said that Golds held the upper hand in the latter part of the game.

It didn't look good for Carl Stabler's team after two minutes. Keeper Micky Phillips had come far too far out of his goal and Dominic Shepherd fired the ball goalwards. It rebounded back to the Mussels striker off Chris Hazell, and this time Shepherd lobbed the stranded Phillips to score the first of what might have been a hatful.

More details in March 20's Littlehampton Gazette.
