FOURTH DEFEAT IN A ROW

SIDLEY crashed to their fourth defeat on the spin in Division Two of the Sussex Cricket League after failing to defend a useful total against Stirlands.

Making their home debut after three matches on the road, Sidley put together a score of 183-9 thanks to Jonathan Haffenden (31), Peter King (30) and Scott Woodroffe (26).

Jamie Hall (63) led the reply as the Stirlands openers put on 72 before the visitors collapsed from 100-1 to 126-4.

Tyrone Wildman (5-57) kept up the pressure and a draw looked the most likely outcome until Tim Robinson smashed three great shots to guide Stirlands to 185-8.

Skipper King said: "It was disappointing to lose but we played very well again. On reflection we were probably about 20 runs short but it's still a competitive score."
