What's more, it meant Heath dropped out of the two promotion places from Sussex Division Two and now have to beat rivals Steyning in a winner-takes-all decider on Saturday September 2.

Bexhill could net fourth place if they make it five on the trot at home to third-bottom Roffey tomorrow, 12.15pm start.

The top order contributed the bulk of Bexhill's runs, especially half-centurions Josh McLean and Richard May, who put on 54 for the third wicket in double quick time.

McLean hit 11 boundaries in his 57-ball 54, while May struck 16 fours in his 78 which came off only 70 deliveries.

Bexhill looked to be flying along until four wickets fell with the score on 183 and another on 185 as Mike Hogue (4-44) made his mark.

Simon Bulteel eased the jitters and took Bexhill to 221 and maximum batting points with a useful 26 before becoming one of Charlie Dowdell's three victims.

Bulteel then made another equally significant contribution by dismissing Stuart Faith, who had scored 175 runs without being dismissed in his two previous innings, with the second ball of Heath's reply.

He also got rid of Steve Kingcome with the score on six and the hosts never really recovered, losing wickets at frequent intervals throughout their innings.

Tom Dowdell and Danny Hall (both 24) were the only players to reach 20 as Ian Ellis took 5-33.
