Woodley strikes in Bexhill win

The area’s Sussex County Football League clubs experienced mixed fortunes on Saturday.

Sidley United conceded an injury time goal to go down 2-1 away to Horsham YMCA in Division One. Andy Hales had drawn the Blues level in the 88th minute with his second goal in as many games.

Bexhill United recovered from conceding in the first minute to win 3-1 away to Seaford Town in Division Two, ending their three-match losing run since the turn of the year.

Jordan Woodley equalised four minutes into his Bexhill debut before two goals in quick succession during the second half completed the turnaround. Sam White levelled on his first appearance and Tom Morton scored the winner against his former club.

Bexhill are now level on points with cross-town rivals Little Common, who suffered a third defeat in four games with a 2-0 loss away to Steyning Town.

In the same division, Westfield fought out their second goalless draw in three outings, this time at home to Storrington.

Full reports on each of these matches will appear in Friday’s Observers. Rye United’s match away to Lingfield in Division One was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
