Common moved back up to second place with a 1-0 win away to Storrington, while Bexhill grabbed a badly needed 5-0 success at home to bottom club Midhurst & Easebourne.

A first half goal from Lewis Hole was enough to extend Common’s unbeaten run to five matches in all competitions and give them 22 points from their 10 league games so far.

Bexhill put a couple of disappointing results behind them with their biggest win of the season. Peter Cooper gave them a half time lead and the same player doubled their advantage shortly after the restart.

Daniel Smith made it three before Jamie Salvidge and Danny Leach completed the scoring in the closing stages. Bexhill are in 10th place with 15 points from 10 matches.

Westfield’s poor start to the season continued, however, with a 2-1 loss at home to AFC Uckfield. Callum Legate beat the offside trap and chipped the goalkeeper to give Uckfield a half time lead and although Matt Dadswell levelled, Legate won it for the visitors direct from a free kick.

See Friday’s Observers for full reports on all three matches.
