All 11 men who finished last weekend’s 1-0 win away to Storrington and 12 of the 14-strong matchday squad had represented the club at youth level.

White said: “If that was a Football League club that finished a game with 11 players being a product of the youth set-up, it would create a bit of a storm really.

“I think that it’s so refreshing at a time when (some) clubs in our league appear to be spending fortunes on players to try and fulfil promotion dreams, that Little Common can produce not only a local squad, but one that’s almost completely homegrown.

“All the coaches within the youth set-up, and Chris and Russell (Eldridge) in particular, deserve so much credit for creating a great enviroment for young players to enjoy and develop their game.”

Common are second in Sussex County League Division Two going into the visit from fifth-placed Steyning Town tomorrow (Saturday, kick-off 3pm), for which Sam Brown is unavailable.
