The U’s will again line up in Ryman Football League Division One South during the 2014/15 campaign following their agonising extra-time defeat away to Folkestone Invicta in Tuesday’s play-off semi-final.

Asked how confident he is of being promoted this time next year, White said: “That’s everybody’s aim. If you don’t go up as champions, you want to go up through the play-offs and I’m pretty confident that we’ll be somewhere near.

“It won’t be for the want of trying let’s put it that way. If we turn in performances like we have tonight for 90 percent of next season, we’ll be fine.

“I’m getting the right characters on the pitch now. I’ve spoken about it on numerous occasions; if you’ve got good players who are good characters as well, they will get you a lot further than good players who’ve got that little chink in their armour.

“I’m gradually starting to get the right characters within the team, but the worst part about it is I’m devastated and no doubt so are my players. We’ve got to pick ourselves up and go again next season.”
