White disappointed at Trevor exit

Hastings United assistant manager Ben White said he was disappointed by the manner of Trevor McCreadie’s departure from the football club.

The 20-year-old striker departed The Pilot Field in the wake of Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Horsham with just two weeks and four matches remaining in the season.

White said: “I was disappointed in Trevor the way he did it. I don’t think he’s gone about it in the right way. We’ve all played for clubs where we’ve not been happy with things, but the best thing to do is have a chat with the manager and if you still want to leave, wish everyone well and get away.

“We’re his third club this season and I think he had two or three clubs last season so am I surprised he’s left another club? Not really. I think Trevor’s a good player and he’s got great potential, but he’s still got a lot to learn and he’s got to be prepared to take things on board.

“He’s done very well in certain games this year, but in other games he’s gone missing. He’s not been treated any differently to any other player. We’ll get on with it without him.”

McCreadie is United’s second highest goalscorer this season having netted 12 times in 25 appearances after joining the Ryman Football League Division One South outfit in November.

As well as netting on his debut in a Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup tie against Westfield, McCreadie scored a hat-trick in the league victory at home to Worthing three weeks ago.
