U’s tackle vital Sussex derby

Hastings United’s trip to Lewes headlines a bumper bank holiday Monday of local football action.

The U’s will be desperate for some sort of result at The Dripping Pan in their quest for Ryman League Premier Division survival. Kick-off is 3pm.

Saturday’s results have left United in the final safe spot of fifth-from-bottom and only three points above the drop zone with four games remaining.

And while United take on a sixth-placed Lewes side bidding to sneak into the play-offs, Leatherhead - the team immediately below them - are at home to bottom-of-the-table and already relegated Horsham.

Harrow Borough - the other side fighting for survival - aren’t in action until Wednesday night when they host FA Trophy semi-finalists Wealdstone.

Elsewhere today, Rye United will seek to keep their Sussex County League Division One title hopes alive with three points in a local derby at home to Sidley United. Kick-off is 11am.

Division Two strugglers Little Common will go in search of a second victory in less than 48 hours as they welcome in-form cross-town rivals Bexhill United to the Recreation Ground. Kick-off is also 11am.

Two more sides eager to pull away from the foot of Division Two, Westfield and Seaford Town, will go head-to-head at The Parish Field. Kick-off in that one is 3pm.
